The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

Ashtanga

"99% practice, 1% theory" - Shri K. Pattabhi Jois

The traditional practice known as Ashtanga Yoga is derived from the teachings of Shri K. Pattabhi Jois. Studying under his Guru, Krishnamacharya, Pattabhi Jois learned this dynamic flowing form of yoga, and has presented it to a growing number of yoga practitioners in all corners of the earth. Ashtanga yoga, as taught by Pattabhi Jois, is a specific sequencing of Asanas (postures) linked with a flowing physical transition known as Vinyasa. The physical asanas and flowing vinyasas are combined with a focused steady breathing technique called Ujjayi breath. The result of the marriage of Breath, Asana and Vinyasa is like placing beads on a string. The whole becomes greater than the sum of the parts, and the resulting 'necklace' is a beautiful, powerful, flowing Yoga practice. By engaging in this dynamic practice, there is a growing awareness and integration of our internal and external worlds. The practice becomes a beautiful expression of the subtle movement of Prana (life force). A graceful balance of strength and flexibility, movement and stillness, foundation and lightness. Breath and movement begin to exist as one, and the mind is set free.

"Practice, practice and all is coming" - Shri K. Pattabhi Jois
