Mindfulness Meditation Workshop with Doug MacLean


This workshop is for individuals who are interested in the practice of Mindfulness.

Mindfulness is a human capacity for paying attention on purpose, in the present, to the experience of being alive. It is a particular way of knowing that we often ignore, and can be cultivated by listening carefully and compassionately to one's moment-to-moment experience.

Mindfulness has been part of the Buddhist traditions for thousands of years. However, the essence of mindfulness is universal. It is about refining a capacity for attention and awareness. It is not something that you have to "get" -- it is already within you. It is a deep and powerful resource for learning and growing.

Join Doug MacLean for this 3-hour workshop where you will be guided through mindful activities -- meditation, gentle stretching and yoga -- to help you access your capacity for mindfulness.

About Doug MacLean:

Doug is the principal of MacLean & Associates, a Calgary organization that offers Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programs to the public and to individuals in organizations. Doug is an adult education professional committed to developing mindfulness-based approaches to stress reduction in himself and others. He has been practicing mindfulness meditation and yoga for over 10 years.

Doug’s academic achievements include a Doctor of Education, a Master of Arts, and a Bachelor of Commerce. He has extensive experience teaching adults with organizations in the private, public and not-for profit sectors: the Toronto Dominion Bank, Seneca College, Brock University, the Canadian Cancer Society among others.

Doug is a community builder. As a volunteer, he has served as a Vice President of the Metro Toronto Region of the Canadian Cancer Society and as Chair of Volunteer Development. He has actively volunteered for organizations that serve individuals with developmental and acquired disabilities. In his personal life, Doug is married with two children. He swims and hikes for relaxation and he is also an avid sailor and canoeist.
